August: Canning Basics

This workshop will provide an overview of canning foods.

• Water Bath vs Pressure canning
• What foods to can using which method
• How to choose the best option for you pantry
• Tools for each method
• safety tips for each method
• Canning cooperatively (it's the best and funnest)

September: Water Bath Canning with bonus topic of Gifts from the Homestead

In this workshop we will walk through the full process of preparing the preserve, water bath canning and getting the preserves on the shelf. Demonstration recipes will cover fruits, jams, and marmalades.

While the jars are processing in the canner, we will put together some easy food gifts from the homestead.

October: Pressure Canning with bonus topic of Cooking from Your Pantry

This will be a longer workshop (4 hours) due to the length of time to process jars. In this workshop, we will walk through the full process of preparing jars for pressure canning, canning a variety of options, and getting preserves on the shelf.
